You Were Injured On the Farm?!

One of the highest sources of injury in the United States are “farm injuries”. Turns out, activities like yardwork and lawn mowing, even dragging fertilizer or pulling weeds constitute farm injuries as well. So, whether you are cutting your 75 foot lot, or 2.5 acres, or “the back 40”, with a push mower, or a combine tractor, you can be injured “on the farm”.

I find that many patients are injured during the set up and take down of projects like this. Dragging the lawnmower out of the crowded garage, loading the 40 pound bags of mulch at Home Depot, or the cleanup process – sometimes even in a hurry – is often when it happens.

With the warm weather coming around, people are beginning to think of working “out on the farm”. Make sure your body is ready for it, the issues that have been nagging you attended to, and consider letting us tune you up before you take this on. Likewise, if you have had a bicycle or motor vehicle accident, or a work injury, it may not be the right time to do some of these things that you would otherwise take for granted. If you have let your treatment plan slip, let’s clean that up too.Let’s talk about this at your next appointment, review proper bending and lifting strategies, and think about ways for you to handle what needs to be done.

Get yourself ready for the spring. Make an appointment today.
