Trigger Point Therapy at Blue Heron Chiropractic

Trigger Point pain in Hamstring muscle during training.

Myofascial Trigger Points are focal muscle spasms in the belly of a muscle. While sometimes buried and silent, they can also feel like a “ball” in a muscle or a “tender point”. Basically, the muscle fibers in the area are “irritable”. There are a number of ways they can develop, and even though they are often the response to a poorly recovered injury, they can also be the result of blood flow issues due to deconditioned muscles, posture, vitamin/mineral  imbalances, metabolic issues or even toxins in the environment.

We typically treat Trigger Points with RRT, or Rapid Release Therapies, paired with soft tissue massage, and techniques like Graston Technique instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization. The key point is also to make sure the joints served by these muscles are functioning properly, so the muscles can operate at their proper length and demand level. Chiropractic Manipulative Therapy is the perfect tool for that. We have multiple styles at our disposal, both gentle-specific techniques and fast, smooth diversified adjusting.  Let’s work together to choose what’s right for you.
