DIAGNOSTICS

We perform a full range of diagnostics at BHC, including orthopedic testing, neurological testing, muscle testing, Digital Range of Motion, Surface Static & Dynamic EMG, Optokinetic Response, Cardiovascular status, EENT, Abdominal exam, and Pain referral exams. We can do blood draws here but typically refer out for CBC, Enzymes, Chemscreen, and Urinalysis. We are contracted for Xray and MRI Exams and typically refer out for radiologist readings.

We can refer out for Respiratory Status exams, Stress testing and EKG.

CHIROPRACTIC MANIPULATIVE THERAPY

  • Manual (Hands-on)
Doctor Sibilla is a “mixer” provider, based in Diversified Technique. Other Styles and techniques are blended in as appropriate.  All techniques can be reduced in force to “low force” technique, and if you have a preference, we always discuss it. Dr. Sibilla prefers to adjust without a lot of “twist”, and to start out as gently as possible. There are also “non-force” techniques. Doctor Sibilla also frequently reinforces with instrument adjusting to facilitate “holding”.
  • Table - Assisted
As opposed to some clinics which have only “benches”, Blue Heron Chiropractic has a variety of tables that assist the doctor in customizing therapies. We have a motorized Leander Flexion Distraction table, a Thompson Terminal Point “Lift” table (acclaimed as the “finest” adjusting table ever designed, and allowing you to “walk on and walk off” the table) and a Chatanoogah Ergo Drop table. All three of our tables have drop settings that allow a gentle adjustable depth release with less force.
  • Instrument - Assisted
We have the Impulse IQ instrument from Neuromechanical Innovations, and also the Activator Instruments for instrument adjusting. These allow a very specific force impulse which can range from an ultra-gentle “signal” to a more substantial, but very specific “thrust” correction. Some people prefer these instead of manual adjusting.
MOBILIZATION
A gentle, slow movement through the normal range of motion of a joint. Typically performed during rehabiliative phases, and also occasionally before or after a manipulative maneuver.
CRANIOSACRAL RELEASE THERAPY
An ulltra-light, non-force technique that circulates cerebrospinal fluid in the spinal column, reduces restrictions in various anatomical and “virtual” diaphragms in the body, and shifts sutures and structures in the cranial system. Very relaxing, and often performed after manipulations. Doctor Sibilla is a CS Level 2 certified provider, but typically does not practice CranioSacral Therapy all by itself, instead, using it as a part of a chiropractic treatment.
MASSAGE THERAPY - SOFT TISSUE BODYWORK
Soft Tissue / Therapeutic massage can be applied during a chiropractic treatment, is region specific, and works on specific muscle groups (as opposed to “full-body “spa massage). Doctor Sibilla was a licensed massage therapist in Oregon and Washington States prior to becoming a DC, and incorporates soft tissue work into his treatments, often also using mechanical massagers.
RAPID RELEASE TECHNIQUE
A myofascial release technique, it is described as a “disruptive pain therapy”, using a special instrument to deliver a very specific high frequency vibrational force to increase circulation, range of motion, and performance. This has great results with scar tissue, joint restrictions, muscle spasms and pain. The technique is fast, and can even be delivered “dry” through clothing, although we will typically gown down for better results. This can be included in a standard treatment.
GRASTON MYOFASCIAL RELEASE TECHNIQUE
This is a certified and license-required technique, and we have a full set of Graston Instruments for combing out myofascial adhesions and increasing circulation in a region. This is an excellent technique for athletes or recovery from old, poorly healed injuries. Typically an add-on to a standard treatment.
PHYSICAL THERAPY MODALITIES (E-stim, Ultrasound)
Often included in standard treatments, although occasionally limited by insurance, we have top of the line Ultrasound, Electrical Stim, Interferential and Galvanic units.
EXERCISE PHYSICAL THERAPY
We have specific plans for injuries or sports, both recovery and training. Doctor Sibilla has been a multi-athlete, surfer, skier, sailor, cyclist and extreme sports practitioner as well as a martial artist, and so takes all of this into consideration. We also have Physical Therapy Balls, Foam Rollers, Theraband Resistance Bands, Rebounders, Medicine Balls, and Bodyblades.
LOW LEVEL LASER THERAPY - COLD LASER
Low level laser therapy “Cold Laser” is excellent for inflammation, injury, and decreasing scar tissue formation. Typically an add-on to a standard treatment. See our more detailed feature on this site.
KINESIOTAPING - KINESIOTAPE
Kinesiotape has uni-directional elasticity and a special pattern to encourage circulation in the lymphatic system, which promotes healing in a muscle or region. There is some support from K-tape, but is primarily for lympatics; it’s for that reason that many K-tape applications just “look good” but are not really effective. We aim to do it right, and also use specialty tapes that are not what you can get at Walgreens. Typically an add-on to a standard treatment. See our more detailed feature on this site.
SUPPORTS, TAPING, CASTING AND BRACING, ORTHOTICS
We have support braces and also special order or refer out to qualified local labs.
REHABILITATION
Extended exercise programs with multiple levels, typically for injury recovery or to recover from an “old” injury or to learn new patterns of movement.
NATURAL SUPPLEMENTS AND NUTRITION
We have a medicinary of specific OTC items, and can also provide you sources to obtain what you need. If you order refills from us, we provide an additional 10% discount.
SPA MASSAGE
We have three spa massage studio rooms available for bodywork from Licensed Massage Therapists.
SHOCK WAVE ESWT
Radial ESWT (ExtraCorporeal Shock Wave Therapy) is a unique regenerative medicine modality that can help recover chronic pain, range of motion loss, tendon and joint recovery, bone loss, and impairment, including for Osteoarthritis and joint degeneration, plantar fascitis, rotator cuff tear, and extremity (elbow, knee, wrist) injuries. See our ESWT page for more.
ACUPUNCTURE AT THE CENTER
While acupuncture has been a feature here in the past, we are currently in-between providers. We offer referrals to established patients.
